Students seeking early childhood-6th grade and 4th-8th grade certification must complete the requirements for the Teaching and Learning major. Students should apply for an official degree plan as soon as possible but before 60 semester hours of completed coursework.
The Teaching and Learning major is composed of five components: academic foundations, pre-professional development courses, specific B.S. and Coordinating Board requirements for mathematics and science, and the Student Teaching Sequence. This degree requires 120-136 semester hours. Degree outlines are available online at http://www.coe.uh.edu/degree-programs/teaching-learning/.
All entering students must declare as a Pre-Teaching and Learning major and will work with an academic advisor to follow an informational plan leading to succesful completion of program requirements.
