The Technology Leadership and Innovation Management degree focuses on providing individuals with a competitive advantage when moving into leadership, innovation, and project management roles in technology-based organizations. The program accredited by the prestigious Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering (ATMAE) investigates the rapidly changing and complex nature of innovation and leadership in organizations that use and rely on technology.
The success of today’s businesses and organizations requires leadership that is forward-thinking, informed, and focused on measurable results. Modern leaders must be able to adopt innovative approaches in product and service development, and process improvement. They must optimize the capabilities of knowledge-based employees and solve problems through out-of-the-box thinking. The Leadership and Innovation degree develops exactly this set of skills. Students gain expertise in applied leadership and innovation within the high-tech era, while mastering project management, crafting organizational vision and value, and developing human resources to effectively lead technological change.
The Technology Leadership and Innovation Management degree provides a long-term, empowering approach to the practice of leading people and managing projects, while building successful teams, innovating products, services, and corporate processes. This is a higher-level approach, more impactful than the short term, command and control approach to utilizing human resources. Through applied learning methods, students learn about innovation and leadership, the importance of organizational vision and values, developing human resources, and managing technological resources in corporate, government, nonprofit, or community organizations. Leadership and innovation skills are applied in project management, quality management, resource management and emergency management, but also in verbal and visual communication. Leadership and innovation values and abilities are developed through relevant real-world applications and case studies.
The Technology Leadership and Innovation Management program consists of 120 credit hours of undergraduate academic credit. In addition to meeting the 42 credit hour university core curriculum requirement, students must complete major core courses, and directed emphasis coursework. Students must earn a 2.0 minimum GPA in all major and directed emphasis courses attempted at the university.
